Laughing with friends
is one of life's treats,
right up there with trinkets
or fattening sweets,

friends are life's treasures
life surprises and more,
they help us and love us
from the heart of their core,

a friend will remember
from days long gone by
something then said,
or a fleeting shared sigh,

and then at a moment
they catch you by surprise
with thought fullness so dear
so tender and wise.

I'd travel the world 
from beginning to end
but it would be for naught
if I couldn't share it with a friend.
