Precious Charges'
How can I tell you
how precious this child,
or how to control
young energy gone wild?
What words can I use
to tell you so true
don't turn your eyes
what ever you do!
Don't leave that cart
to go down a isle,
or leave them in the car
for just a little while,
or let them play in
a yard you can't see
or alone by water
thinking you'll be
back in a minute,
you've done it before,
don't think that a child
knows the great score,
to know all the things
that one has to do
to survive this world
and be true to you,
responsiblies given
far beyond their years,
might one day lead you,
to grief ladden fears.
