Sometimes I think I'd like
to have a past 
lost love
to look back on,

a love that even
just lasted a little while
just long enough 
to shine on within me,

It's been a while now
since I looked ahead
to finding true love,

now I believe
that will never be

I no longer look 
around the next bend
with hope in my heart

now I'm just sorry
that no one loved me
as I wanted to be loved,

sure I've been loved
in someone's own way,

that's not what I needed,

what I needed was someone
to love me 

like I love.
