My Mother, My Daughter, Myself
Separated by miles
and also by years
but together by smiles
and also some tears.
The oldest is sweet,
sweet as can be,
the youngest is wild,
like I used to be.
We talk on the phone
sharing our days,
how to face life,
in all of our ways,
often to pause and
wish for awhile
we could share a mocha,
at a table with style,
for that is the way
it once was for us all,
sitting and sipping
at the local great mall.
But now the years,
don't find us together,
but we still show great love
in all kinds of weather.
The laughter and tears
are bittersweet now,
wishing and hoping
we'd be together somehow.
