This show followed the weekly exploits of Harry Broderick ( Andy Griffith) and his junkyard spaceship called the Vulture (and later Salvage 1 or just Salvage) . Well the space ship was only used in a few episodes. In the pilot he has the idea of flying to to moon and salvaging all the NASA equipment (which cost millions of dollars) bringing it back to earth and sell it. he hires two ex-NASA engineers, Fred and mack, and then goes on to recruit maverick astronaut Skip Carmichael to help in his plan. He also obtains the aid of Melanie Slozar, fuel expert. All this activity, and the buying up of a lot of NASA surplus items arouses the suspicions of the FBI and special agent Jack Klinger. The space ship takes off and after avoiding various dangers returns the astronauts as national heroes.

Several characters in the pilot never made it into the regular series. Dropped were Fred ( Raleigh Bond) , Lorene ( Jacqueline Scott) , Street (Larry Pennell) , and Biff Kelly (Peter Brown). I also think they droped Richard Jaeckel as FBI Special Agent Jack Klinger in the second season.
