The "EEKS!" set (box picture courtesy of the John Kolesar collection) was probably one of the finest of the thing maker sets. The set included eight molds. This set allowed you to mix and match various icky and imaginative insect parts to create your own 'EEKS!' which could have wings, claws, and other various parts. There were two basic types of EEKS! The first was an insect with a 3 segment body, and the second was a long worm like creature to which you would add numerous legs. 
The Eeeks parts could alos be used in combination with the Mini-Dragons set for some truly fearful looking dragons or to creator more fanciful Eeeks. This set was recently re-released in the new Creepy Crawler line with the deletion of the worm like creature and the addition of more insect like bodies. The heads are better in the newer set than in the original, but I miss the fanciful huge eyes as shown here on the original box. This new set also called Eeks is probably the best maker set of the new Creepy Crawler line. The molds, if anything, are even creepier than the originals. Eeeks also came with "Icky Yuk", it was "Super-oozy stuff that puts wiggles 'n wobbles into... all Mattel THINGMAKER Toys!" As far as I can determine this special type of goop only came in black.
This 'creature' was created by using the new "EEKS!" set which came out in 1995. Many of the elements in this set are very similar to the original set, and in some cases even improved over the original, however the long centipede like creature has been removed in favor of adding more claws and wings. All in all this new 'EEKS!" set is by far the best of the new Creepy Crawlers toys so far.
To aid collector below is a picture of all the molds in the set arranged by thier respective part numbers. There were eight molds in this set. Several of the molds are similar so collect with care. This should aid you if you are trying to collect a set of molds one or two at a time. Note that the pictue at the bottom of the page was of the box without a heating unit and not the full Eeeks! set as the playpacks contained two less molds than did the full set..
