The "Mini-Dragons" Page
The Mini Dragons (box picture courtesy of Kari Sprigs) was my all time favorite set. With it you could create very unusual mythical dragons. The dragons could be made to any length by adding more body segments. I still have one from my days in second grade. It is about a foot and a half long and is made from some of the strangest colors ever seen, although for the 70's I guess it was pretty tame. Other parts included several types of claws, wings, and feet. I currently have two extra molds from this set for trade. They are the top of the dragon head mold and the front of the chest mold. If you are in need of either one of these drop me a note at fox@snowcrest.net. I am currently looking for a set of mini-dragon molds from the new series of Creepy Crawler toys. I am also seeking a better picture of the front of the box for the page. If you have one and would be willing to send me a photograph I would greatly appreciate it. Keep in mind that most of the toys on my pages are pictures form other collections.
With the production of GoopFX detailing sticks you can now fill in all the tiny details onto the mini dragons with the colors of your choice. GoopFX is a thicker substance that sticks to the molds and can be moved with a point tool that comes with each set of the pens. This new product really makes the fanciful creatures created by the Mini-Dragons set come to life with vivid detail. There are currently five more colors of detail pens (which i did not have at the time of this picture) than are shown in the above picture including fluorescent pink which would really make such a creature stand out!
To aid collector below is a picture of all the molds in the set arranged by their respective part numbers. This should aid you if you are trying to collect a set of molds one or two at a time. These mold images were captured by using a video camera hooked to the back of an Apple AV card. They were grabbed at 640x480 then shrunk and reduced in size and bit depth to 256 shades of grey, then manipulated in Color*It 3.0 to give them that shiny look even though the molds themselves were very dull looking. It took me only about 2 hours to record, convert and manipulate all the molds in my collection using my Macintosh! Macintosh; the computer for people who like to get something done!
