Shop Central
Anything you buy from Shop Central can be returned for a full refund if you do so under 10 minutes.  Under 30 minutes if you purchased a vehicle (double check to make sure).  Most things can only be found here, like hoverboats, TUVs, decorative items, and seasonal/holiday items.  The reason for this is usually because these objects aren't available to developers to customize, and have them available in auctions.  However the better deals are in auctions.

Auctions
This is the place to get the newest and the best quality stuff, and at the BEST prices. Nearly everything you see here are items created by citizens of There, just like everyone else, but are "Developers." who simply make stuff.  Most user developed items posted on in auctions are NOT bid auctions.  They are buy-now items that are sold at a fixed price, and may be selling dozens of the same item in a single auction. There are also traditional bid auctions, but these are items that an avatar possesses in their inventory, and they wish to sell it.

Also be warned that you will not get a full refund if you decide to return an item you bought from auction.  You will get some money back, but not the full purchase price you paid.  This is why it's important to use the "Try it" button for free for two minutes, that all auctions have.

To give you an idea on good prices found in auctions, developers have to pay a wholesale price when putting their stuff in auctions.  This list will show you the price they pay and you can see how much profit they make from their auction prices when they make a sale.  If you happen to find items marked BELOW wholesale price, you're looking at a wonderful deal!

Other ways to Shop
You can also find great deals at events that are held as swap meets, garage sales, pawn shops, etc. where people buy, sell, and trade used stuff. It's also a good place to sell off your old stuff you don't want anymore, and earn some therebucks your self.  Some people make it their in-world careers by trading used stuff. Often people will accumulate so much stuff that they just need to unload their excess stuff, so they might hold an event to sell to sell their stuff on the cheap.

Also you can check out fashion show events. Most of these events purpose is to show off new clothing, and sell them at a discount to participants at the event.  Prices offered at these events are usually cheaper than what you'd find in auctions.
