Totally shocked to be jerked from it's quiet, dusty, resting place, and with hardly a hasty wipe......... 1940's Toolbox (I'm guessing 40's, total plain guess, but appears 40ish trunk hardware type. Could be 50's instead, I guess? ) I assume for taking your tools with you aboard the train to work every morning, is what they had in mind. Pretty simple interior. One drawer, One clip for 2 saws in the lid and a pair of clips for a level I'm guessing. I always wondered if the maker figured the average carpenter was likely to refit the interior to suit. Seems funny to have an elaborate exterior and such a plain inside. I imagine there might have something about carrying the least tools required. Specialization was already big by then. Still seems skimpy. yours, Scott. |
