Terrific 1949 L.A.F.D. Film "Your Fire Department"

Here are a few screenshots I've taken from the film:

"My HOUSE is on fire..." (he had dialed 1-1-6 - remember THAT number???

LAFD's old "Westlake" Dispatch Center, 2200 W 6th Street

Dispatcher receives the caller's information for broadcast...

Here's the location... (probably be a baseball stadium up here in 10 years!)

Looks like 52's to me...

No doubt about THIS one: old 27s!
The rigs coming out of there on the video will knock your socks off!

Engine 17...They call this one a "manifold," and tell us it's equivalent to a triple...

Tillerman does it the old-fashioned way...

"Year-round fire patrol in brush areas..."

When a fire is just too hot or too high up, we'll do this...

Pouring cans of "foamite" into an in-line foam generator...

"L.A.F.D. Airport Crash Rig" - Doesn't look like an Oshkosh, b'gosh, does it?

The Chief

"The Assistant Chief, and the three Division Chiefs"
But they don't tell us who the "other" guy is...

1949 Battalion Map - Look familiar??
But the Valley sure doesn't look like it's been split up yet...

"Battalion Chiefs go to all fires in their Battalion"

A lost "art" - thank goodness

A "routine" fire

Now THAT's ventilation...
But who's got our air packs???
