Pico & Rimpau Loop

Western Terminus of the “P” Line from Rowan and Dozier, via Broadway

Venice Blvd (W 16th St) was a major route for PE lines to the west. At Vineyard Junction, near West Blvd, the lines split, with Venice Short Line cars bearing southwest to Culver City and Venice; the Santa Monica via Sawtelle line branched to the northwest, over a long, massive viaduct above Pico Blvd and La Brea to a private way in the center of San Vicente Blvd. Vineyard was the location of a tragic wreck in July, 1913, as two trains of home-bound beachgoers collided, killing about 16 and injuring many dozens more.
