Systems Engineer – Public Safety RF & Telecom Networks

    Our Client is a systems provider of mission critical, interoperable communications solutions providing public safety and homeland security solutions based on Project 25 (P25) technology.

 

    Our Systems Engineers are responsible for developing competitive technical solutions, including network and system engineering, for our client’s North American customers. This position provides support to the Sales, Project, Technical Support and Marketing team while working in conjunction with the Product Business Development and Engineering teams. This position is a key member of the teams contributing to pre-sale activities, bid responses, customer solution deployment, acceptance and evolutions.

 

This position is responsible for:

  • Designing, engineering, validating and deploying competitive mission critical network solutions.
  • Developing competitive solutions in compliance with customer functional and operational requirements, as well as customer's existing systems.
  • Providing technical support for sales engineering activities required for product demonstrations and responses to RFP's.
  • Network and systems design, including:
    • Defining network and system design (transport, routing, management)
    • Defining network planning (dimensioning, performance)
    • Defining network and system engineering (scope of supply)
    • Execution of the acceptance plan of the solution.
    • Managing technical changes.
    • Managing all technical reviews.
  • Support, including:
    • Assisting Project Managers to develop SOW for 3rd party vendors.
    • Negotiating technical specifications with suppliers.
    • Managing lab and field testing.
    • Validating the technical responses to the customer.
    • Drafting and customizing technical bulletins.
    • Overseeing the deployment of new products or releases as well as extensions.
    • Support and perform on-site commissioning test.

 

We are seeking candidates with the following skills and qualifications: 

  • BSEE, BSCS or related degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years engineering/system design and deployment experience with P25, TETRAPOL, EDACS, SmartNet, Simulcast or 800-trunked technology.
  • Minimum of 5 years integration of telecommunications systems, including field intervention.
  • Minimum of 5 years IP, telecom or related experience.
  • Must have demonstrated success and experience with networking and/or radio infrastructure.
  • Broad knowledge of Public Safety communication products, solutions and systems; preferably LMR/PMR using P25, TETRAPOL, EDACS, SmartNet, Simulcast or 800-trunked technology.
  • Experience with protocols, standards and technologies such as SIP, TCP/IP, and UDP for control and transport of voice and data; HTML and XML for databases and web-based management; IPSec for security and SNMP; LMR and networking technologies such as LAN/WAN and VPN.
  • Exposure to digital VoIP systems is a must.
  • Exposure to Microwave preferred.
  • Exposure to Unix is preferred.
  • Cisco certification is preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office and PC based applications.
  • Strong English communication skills including verbal, written and interpersonal.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks, make critical decisions and troubleshoot issues.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Willingness to travel overnight to customer sites when necessary.

 

Remuneration:

Up to $128K base plus performance/incentive bonus.
