Looking north
on US 395 the highest
peak in
the picture is White Mountain peak.
It's just
a tad short of Mt. Whitney
which is
14,495 feet high.
Looking west
from the crest of the Whites , you can see the lovely
little town
of Bishop California, nestled between the White
Mountains
and the Sierra Nevada.
Bishop is
approximately 7000 feet below us in this picture.
This is
classic Horst und Graben topography !
Wheeler
Ridge is the huge wall in the upper right of the photo.
