- 8-14-04- 6:00PM- Exit route/Evacuation through Trinity Center area to Weaverville from French Gulch Area= 2000 acres plus fire.
- 8/14/04- Establish Red Cross Shelter at Trinity High School=(530) 623 1117- Red Cross Shelter, TC ARES (Ham Radio) activity at Weaverville Shelter and Shasta County (Shasta College and Red Cross Office (146.925 Primary/146.730 B/U , Packet 145.050 RDG- K6SDD at Trinity High School Red Cross Shelter.)
- HWY 299 open, and some left shelter or diverted. Some folks stayed in Trinity Center Area, Some help availiable at TCVFD , food, fuel arrangements,etc.
- 8/15/04 0900 Red Cross Shelter Closed- Guests/Victims to be sent to Redding Shelter (530) 225-3978 (Shasta College) or CDF FIRE INFO (530) 225-2510
- CDF FRENCH FIRE - French Gulch- Hotel and Church OK, some structure losses reported in area +3000 acres now.
- CDF reports 20
% contained, with some crews released to go to other areas, some to rest for attack on fire at first light. Some equipment has also been released, very steep terrain
- HIGHWAY 299 has been CLOSED for the greater part of the day, at location described as intersection with Trinity Dam BLVD....some convoyed vehicle traffic was monitored. ...at 1800, CHP indicated that ONE WAY escorted traffic would be started around 2000 HRS. HUMBOLDT COUNTY had signs up prior to that time indicating 299 was open, They have decided to allow traffic since it will take a while for them to reach area of closure. SO...ONE WAY ESCORTED tonight... IF YOU ARE USING THIS INFO

- 8-15-04 1800hrs- Update/correction containment figure quoted yesterday too high, now about 25% with about 7,000 acres burned. Possible containment in 4-6 days.
- 08-16-04- 1500 hrs - 8000 ACRES BURNED- 299 West is OPEN with PILOT CARS w/ long delays. TRINITY MOUNTAIN ROAD CLOSED.(not likely to open anytime soon)

- Ham Radio Emergency Activities- ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) has been working fires non top in Sacramento Valley and elsewhere. Shasta-Tehema ARES has been Supporting Red Cross Redding, Shelter at Shasta College. Trinity County ARES has been supporting the Fire efforts on Voice and Packet. , and mobilizing as the fire continues to burn
towards them.

- 1700 HRS on 8/16- Per CDF PIO about 12 square miles (9000 acres) in very rough steep terrain, too difficult for buldozers,etc. Hand Crews on scene, difficult area to fight fire.

- 8-17-04-1530hrs- NO NEW INFO POSTED BY CDF ON WEBSITE- Skies in the WEAVERVILLE AREA have LESS SMOKE each day. Very few AIRCRAFT IN LOCAL SKY... Check Later tonight here and on CDF and other LINKS. CDF Map shows yesterday's acreage still.
