TRINITYCAM IMAGE INFORMATION

From an elevation of 2100', you are looking North from Weaverville, in Northern California's Trinity County. You are now viewing the landscape from 7.5 miles away using a 12 mm lens. This lens is used most of the year-around and has a field-of-view that shows an area including Monument Peak at the left, and to the right the ridge that divides East Weaver & Rush Creeks. Eventually, this will be hopefully known as "TrinityCam Ridge"! Last Winter a 50mm lens & a variable telephoto lens were attatched to a high-definition B & W webcam to more closely observe the highest points of the mountains.

Winter finds the snowcapped and fog-shrouded mountains a source of dramatic vistas. In the Summer, watch the snow melt under the blue sky and striking clouds that signal the area's weather. Sometimes the view is shrouded by mountain fog, or distorted by the haze or smoke from the many area wood heated homes and forest fires. The changes in the clouds that signal the changes in the weather can be seen through the day.

The webcam is used by pilots, weathermen, fire professionals, air quality experts, and everyday people from around the world, to look through TrinityCam's window to the world.

The occasional low-flying bird or tell-tail aircraft con-trail will decorate the sky in your field-of-view. There have also been rumors of the occasional UFO...

The current computer-driven webcam image upload schedule varies, at different times of the year. The availiable light is the major factor. Presently it varies during the hours of 8 AM and 5:30 PM Winter and 8 AM to 8:00 PM in the Summer.

While the webcam camera is nestled in a fruit tree, located about 15' up a 4"x 4" wooden support, in an environmental enclosure, shaded by snow and sunshades, it is tended much like a lighthouse to maintain the best view for folks around the world. The webmaster has often climbed a ladder during and after severe storms to remove ice and snow, occasional visiting insects, lost birds and maintenance of the "defogger" and thermostatic fan.

This WebCam was installed by the Trinity Alarm Company- If you are interested in a security video system or a webcam contact them. If you are interested in co-sponsoring a webcam on the TrinityCam or affiliated website, or just need information. CONTACT the WEBMASTER
