Juror's Statement
All 71 entries submitted are being displayed, demonstrating the quality of the work for the Highland Art Center's 12 Annual Photography Show. Those receiving awards were judged best based on Composition, Print Quality and Presentation.Also considered under composition were the photographer's use of any one or more of the following: use of diagonal lines, use of the "S" curve found in nature, rule of thirds, repetition of form, depth of field and how it was handled, detail in shadow areas, proper handling of horizon lines, cropping, and proper handling of the highlights within the photograph. My overall philosophy is that simpler is better, both in selection of subject matter and presentation of the art.
