TCARC TESTING

A group of members of the Trinity County Amateur Radio Club have formed an Amateur Radio Testing Group. This group is associated with the the Greater Los Angeles Amateur Radio Group. This group is a certified VEC by the FCC.

These examinations are given on an irregular basis, depending on the number people requesting to be tested. The tests are often given subsequent to Amateur Radio License Classes. The location is generally the Trinity County Board of Education Conference Room in Weaverville on Weekends.

The Greater Los Angeles Amateur Radio Group is one of the oldest VEC Groups in California. Here in the Northstate there are also VECs affilliated with the ARRL and W5FYI Testing Groups.

Some of the local hams that donate their time for this community service under the leadership of Robert "Buck" Buckley, W6HOR, WD66FHX, WJ6R, WU6R, WA6TEE, K6QXA, N6TKY, WA6BXN, NC6A and KR6M.

The tests follow specific FCC rules and guidlines that include advertising prior to public testing, charging a small fee required by the FCC and the presence of a specific number of test proctors. The presence of this "local" testing service, makes it easier to concentrate in a "relaxed" local atmosphere, with no long drive or extensive out of area travel/
