They all tried to tell me
and yes, you tried to
but I wouldn't listen
and that's nothing new

I'll figure things out
my very own way
and lessons to be learned
will come what may

and warnings they gave
will stick with me here
in the back of my mind
but still very clear

I can't live my life
doing what they all say
I can only sleep well 
when I've done it my way

no matter the outcome
what ever it takes
I was the one that 
put up the stakes

so either I'll get
a handsome return
or like they all said
I'll just crash and burn.

But one things for certain
and they all will agree
the thing they love most
is the way I stay me.
