On the 25th May 1841 William Stirling married Christina BAILLIE the fourth daughter of Ludovic BAILLIE Esq. of Greenhill, Stirlingshire. After a prolonged illness Christina m.s. Baillie died in 1876.
William went on to serve his congregation as the Minister for Coatbridge U. P. Church for 50 years.
They had one child, Christina C. STIRLING, the 'C' standing for CROSS.
(There is a possibility of a second marriage of Ludovic Baillie?)
