  The next Northeast Regional Klinefelter Syndrome support group

               meeting scheduled for Sunday, April 16, 2000 has been cancelled.
The next support group meeting is scheduled for October 2000.

     Directions to meeting location: 
                From I-95/Rt. 128 going North, take exit 33B off of the highway.

                Pass underneath of the highway and make a left at the first traffic
                light, which is Burlington Mall Road. Go to the third traffic light
                (not including the blinking light) and make a left into the clinic.
                Parking is beyond the entrance in the back of the building. 
                From I-95/Rt. 128 going South, take exit 33B off of the highway. Go

                straight off of the exit and make a left at the fourth traffic light (not
                including the blinking light). Parking is beyond the entrance in the
                back of the building. 
 

 

                Bayside (New York), New York 

                The meeting of the Bayside Support Group will be held on Saturday,

                April 1, 2000 from 2:00PM to 6:30PM. The meeting will be held at
                Our Lady of Blessed Sacrament School. The guest speaker is Dr.
                Carole Samango-Sprouse. Light refreshemnts will be served. For

                Staten Island, New York 

                The Staten Island, New York Klinefelter Syndrome Support Group

                Meeting was held on Sunday, May 2nd, from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

               Southeastern Support Group 
                The Southeast XXY Support Group Meeting is scheduled for

                Saturday, May 13, 2000, in the Ocie Pope Building, on the campus
                of Northeast Georgia Medical Center beginning at 3:00 p.m.  This
                medical center is located in Gainesville, Georgia approximately 50
                miles northeast of Atlanta. A geneticist and a representive from an
                early intervention program have been contacted about attending
                the meeting.  In addition, we are attempting to schedule someone to
                address the issue of testosterone treatment.  Anyone wishing to
                attend or to help with the group meeting, please contact Stefan.

                Midwest/Chicago Area 

               The Spring, 2002, Chgo./Midwest States XXY(and variations 
thereof)/Klinefelter Syndrome Information and Support Group Meeting will
take place on Sunday,
April 21, from 11:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., at the Holiday
Inn, 5300 W. Touhy Ave., Skokie, IL, (847) 679-8900. (Skokie is a suburb 
bordering Chicago on its far north side.)

While all are welcome to attend, we are especially "targeting"
people living in the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky,
Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Dr. Wolfram E. Nolten, 

Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin (Madison) will 

present "An Overview of KlinefelterSyndrome" and "Possible Complications of 

Klinefelter Syndrome".

Dr. Nolten will also answer attendees questions concerning XXY/Klinefelter 

syndrome and he will also be available for private consultations with attendees.

A lawyer who specializes in "disability issues" has also been
invited to speak at our meeting.

We have also allotted much time for visiting, sharing experiences, 
exchanging information, and having support groups.

There will be an "on your own" lunch break from 12:30 - 1:30 P.M.
(In addition to the Hotel's coffee shop, there are numerous "fast food" 
restaurants and snack shops just a few steps from the Holiday Inn.)

Light refreshments will be served at our meeting.

Directions to the Holiday Inn From Interstate 94 (Edens Expressway):
Exit Touhy Ave. westbound (exit 39A). Proceed west on Touhy
Ave. past the second traffic signal. The Holiday Inn is on the north side of 
Touhy Ave., between the second and the third traffic signals.

From O'Hare Airport

Follow I-90 to the Harlem Ave. exit. Proceed north on Harlem
to Touhy Ave. (7200 north). Turn right (east) onto Touhy Ave. Proceed east
on Touhy Ave. to the Holiday Inn which is located at the intersection of
Touhy Ave. and Niles Center Road.

in the area. Also, there are two huge shopping centers just steps from the 
Holiday Inn. Some of the stores in these shopping centers are Barnes and 
Noble Bookstore, Walmart, Galyan's Sporting Goods, Dress Barn Clothing
Store, KidsRUs, Walgreen's, Jewel-Osco Food Store, Cub Foods, OfficeMax, Office 
Depot, ChuckECheese, the Corner Bakery, McDonald's, BurgerKing, Chipotle,
and much, much, more!

                MEETING INFORMATION: The next meeting will take place on 
Saturday, March 9, 2002 at 11:30 am at the VA Hospital on Beacon Hill. VA Medical Center 
1660 South Columbian Way Seattle, WA 98108-1597 
(Bldg. 100, Room BB-108) Take elevator to basement and follow the signs to

EXAMPLES OF THE FUTURE
In recent weeks, I have had several new contacts with men and moms of
young XXY'ers that have been recently diagnosed. They are planning on attending
the meeting and it would delight us all if each of us could attend to
share our experiences with XXY, for thoses that have little knowledge. It is
also a great opportunity for us to give and receive support to each other. Dr. 
Paulsen, Dr. Mozaffarian and I look forward to seeing you there. We are 
asking that you bring a "snack" item to share. Beverages will be
provided.

DIRECTIONS TO MEETING: From the East on I-90: 
Take Rainier Avenue South southbound exit, follow Rainier to 23rd Avenue 
South. Turn Right and follow it to South Spokane Street. Turn right onto
Spokane, follow it to 15th Avenue South; turn left and follow it. Angle
left onto Columbian Way at the light. The VA entrance will be on your left
just past Asa Mercer School. From the north or south on I-5: 
Take exit 163A and follow the signs for South Columbian Way. Follow it 
southbound about ½ - ¾ mile, angling left where the road divides at a
light. Watch for the entrance to the VA on your left, just past Mercer Middle 
School. After you turn in go approximately 20 yards and take a right. 
There is a large parking area. Look for Building 1 on the left. Take the 
crosswalk to the door and take elevator to 2nd floor, room 240. I hope to
have signs up. Buses: 36, 50 and 60 go by the VA Medical Center. We have bus schedules if you
need one. Directions to Room BB-108 (Bldg. 100): 
The entrance is on the northwest side of the Medical Center. Park in the 
north parking lot and enter the VA under the "Main Entrance" sign. Take
the first left and follow the hallway to the "Public Elevators." Take this 
elevator to the basement and follow the signs to the Chapel/Auditorium.

 

 

San Diego, California (Southern CA) 
                The San Diego Area Support Group held a quarterly meeting on

                Sunday October 17, 1999 from 4:30 -7:30 pm, at the Alvarado
                Medical Center, San Diego Rehabilitation Institute. There was a
                presentation by a Speech-Language Pathologist, as well as an Open
                Forum. Refreshments were provided. For reservations, contact Fred

                Directions to the meeting:
                From Interstate 5, 15 or 805 S, head east on Interstate 8. Exit on


                70th St. off ramp.  Turn right at first light on to Alvarado Rd. Pass
                Denny's Restaurant on the right. Drive approximately 1/4 mile to
                Resevoir Rd. Pass through the traffic light/intersection. The
                hospital's emergency room is on the left side of the street. The next
                driveway is the main entrance to the hospital; there is a building
                where the classrooms are located. The meeting will be held in
